Former ‘Hey Dad!’ star Robert Hughes makes bid for parole

Former Hey Dad! star and convicted child sex offender Robert Hughes will find out next week whether he will be released from jail on parole.

Hughes has been behind bars since 2014 for sexually and indecently assaulting four girls over a period of 20 years in the 1980s and 1990s.

He was eligible for parole in April 2020 but has twice been knocked back.

At a NSW State Parole Authority hearing today, the court heard the disgraced actor is still a "denier" but because of his low risk rating there is no treatment available.

His wife claims she has found treatment in the UK, where Hughes will be deported to if he is released.

One of his victims, former child actor Sarah Monahan, came home to Australia from the US to face her abuser in court.

"I'm at that point where I'm confident seeing Robert and I think it's important that he knows that none of us are scared of him anymore," Monahan told A Current Affair last night.

More to come.
